Graduation Checklist

  • Apply to graduate and walk in the commencement ceremonies. Check with http://Graduation.Tamu.edu for deadlines.
  • Send out your invitations or announcements! (Needs to link to either the Invitation and Announcement Etiquette or the Link for Signature Announcements so they can order them, but if it does link to Signature then I’d like for it to open a new tab.) ---- This is a great, as well as rewarding, way to announce your success to your family and friends. Invitation orders usually takes about 2 weeks to arrive so order early!
  • Order your Cap & Gown! (Link needs to go to either Caps & Gown sections below or link to the page where they can order their caps & gowns.)
  • Pick up your ceremony tickets.
  • Most graduation ceremonies will not require a ticket. However in the past some colleges have had record number of graduating seniors. Please check with www.graduation.tamu.edu to find out if your ceremony does require guest tickets.
  • Plan your graduation weekend and party!
  • College Station has some great venues to hold small parties or dinners for you and your family, however with the growing size of each graduating class, availability for these venues fills up rather quickly.
  • Make sure that you book a hotel for your family and friends who are coming in for the weekend. Hotels can fill up quickly so please don’t wait till the last minute. Please visit http://www.visitaggieland.com/ for all your visitors questions.
  • Decorate your cap! We carry several types of cap toppers because many students find it a fun way to do this or decorate the caps themselves so you stand out in the crowd.
  • Update your address & contact information with Texas A&M University. Make sure you receive all further correspondence at the correct location.
  • Grad Packs

Grad Packs are a great way to get everything you need for graduation for a bundle price. This means you get your Official Texas A&M Regalia, Diploma Frame, Announcements, Thank You notes, and a T-shirt while saving a lot of money too! • Former Corps of Cadets Members: Former members of the Corps of Cadets who desire to wear a cadet uniform in lieu of academic regalia for graduation ceremonies should report to the Office of the Commandant. A letter of authorization is necessary for permission to wear a cadet uniform during commencement ceremonies. Rented uniforms will be obtained from the Military Property Warehouse no later than the day before the first commencement ceremony and must be returned by the following Monday.
  • Invitation Etiquette

Invitations & Announcements should be mailed out early enough to arrive at least 2 weeks before the graduation ceremony. We recommend for those graduating students who have family and friends traveling from out of town, to mail out the invitations earlier if possible. It’s a great idea to send your visiting family and friends tips for getting around College Station.

    Ceremony Dates & Speakers

The Office of the Registrar is responsible for ensuring the number of graduates at each commencement ceremony results in ceremonies of reasonably equal duration. Consequently, the determination of which colleges will graduate at which ceremony is typically not established until 2-3 weeks after the deadline to apply for graduation without a late fee for that semester. Please refer to the Academic Calendar for this deadline.
